SATELLITE COMUNICATION

It uses satellite link to measure the storage level of the high-Andean lagoons.

SEDAPAL entered into the stage of satellite communication and started a modern supervision and monitoring system of the water resource sources such as the high Andean ponds and the basins of the Rimac river affluents.
These are remote stations transmitting 24 hours per day, the information of the status of the basins Cosurcocha, Casacancha and Carispacha, tributaries of the Mantaro, using the satellite link to the earth station located in Miami ( United States of America ).

These are to be retransmitted through Internet to the Scada station of La Atarjea Plant, located in Lima , and this information is processed by the specialists in hydrology to adequately manage the production and distribution of drinking water in the capital city and the province of El Callao , jurisdiction of SEDAPAL.

Moreover, this system serves to control the volume of stock of the Antacoto pond all the year round and the water overflowing into the Patahuay-Sapicancha tunnel is evaluated with an ultrasound sensor to quantify the precipitation registered in the Cordillera de los Andes through the Pluviometric installed in the Andacancha zone.

With the help of this satellite system, SEDAPAL has become the first company in the Peruvian history to obtain information in real time of the storing capacity of the water sources for Lima .
